Our January indoor veteran’s tournament continues to break records with increased entries from across the country, club successes were: –

Ann Brown: Ladies over 50 – 60 singles winner

Tony Alexander: Men’s over 50 singles runner up

Nick Lodge: Men’s over 60 singles runner up

Eddie Fox: Men’s over 65 singles runner up

The summer clay court veteran’s tournament was not as popular, but still an enjoyable event, club successes were: –

Gerry Radford: Men’s over 60 singles runner up

Gerry Radford and John Taylor: Men’s over 60 doubles winners

This year the club entered 8 teams of various age groups into the National Inter Club Senior Competitions, with a fair degree of success. The super senior mixed team (men over 65, women over 60) won the event at the third attempt, beating West Hants Bournemouth in the recent finals at Dudley. The team of Margaret Fincham, Gerry Radford, Ann Brown and Rex Burrows won 3 – 1.

Our over 60’s women team came runners up in the European club championships, winning the silver medal in Majorca, in September. The team of Sue Copestake, Margaret Findham and Ann Brown, also went on to finish as runner up to Byfleet at Dudley, losing a close match 3 – 1. Shirley Fox joined the team for the finals.

Junior mixed (men over 45, women over 40)

        Men’s over 65: Semi Finalist

        Women’s over 70: Semi Finalist

The club would like to thank the team captains and all the players involved, as there are some long distances to be travelled for some away fixtures.
