Having recovered from the exciting events of earlier this month, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the amazing WB green team players and of course parents for supporting what has been another successful Notts winter mini tennis league.
There has been some great tennis played and fair play was always observed. The team consisted of Charlie Brown, James Evison-Varley, Robin Morgan, Billy Morley, Jasper Riley and Liam Weston – I only wish I was able to offer some of you more matches. A special mention must go out to Robin who was able to play at the eleventh hour and braved the harsh weather conditions with James and Billy last weekend – gosh it was cold and those tennis balls just did not bounce!
Overall the team came top of the Notts South league having fought off some serious title contenders and lost only one of their matches. This meant that the team went through to finals day at the Nottingham Tennis Centre. So James, Charlie and Billy flew the flag for WB green team and stepped on court like they meant business. As always there was great support for each other, with team huddles to share knowledge and tactics. They enjoyed a convincing 9-0 win over Caunton in the semi-final and kept their cool in a closely fought final to beat Grantham Gingerbreads 5-4.
I have thoroughly enjoyed being your team captain and it’s fantastic to be leaving mini tennis on such a high note. Thanks boys for being so awesome and such great ambassadors for the club!
See you soon.
